For Letty & Ty’s Horseshoe Bend Wedding First Look and bridal session, we had the most amazing fiery sunset! Thanks to wildfires in the area, our skies matched the orange and pink cliffside. Ty had such an amazing, emotional reaction to seeing Letty for the first time in her dress. His awe and tears over his bride made it one of my favorite first-look moments ever. It was the sweetest connection to capture!
Letty and Ty did their first look, and then we took bridal photos. When you think of a bridal session, you might think of a session with photos of just the bride. However, bridals also refer to photos of the couple in their wedding attire outside of the wedding day. In LDS wedding culture particularly it’s common for couples book a bridal session to do wedding photos either before or after the wedding day. But bridal sessions aren’t just for LDS couples, they’re for any couple and are a popular session either before or after the wedding day. Why not go somewhere magical for more photos of the most special time of your life??
There are quite a few benefits of having booking a bridal session. It’s like having an insurance policy to get the best wedding photos possible. As strange and untraditional as it might seem, hear me out for a second: for two hours, you get to go to a beautiful location just be together and celebrate the fact that you’re getting married (or already married)!
There’s no pressure of a wedding day timeline or managing your bridal party or family. Instead, it’s just you and your partner in your wedding clothes getting to be together and have epic photos taken!
On a wedding day, there are a lot of things out of your control like the weather and the timeline. With a bridal session, we can schedule a day with beautiful weather at a dreamy location during the time of day when the light will be at its best. There’s nothing or no one else to be stressed about. It’s an opportunity for you two to get even more beautiful photos together during one of the best seasons of your life!
Post-Wedding Bridals
I also have couples who elect to do these types of sessions right after the wedding day. They can keep all the special moments on their wedding day, but still have a chance to get dressed in their wedding clothes and go somewhere beautiful for pictures.
For Letty & Ty’s bridal session we ventured from Utah to Arizona. Horseshoe Bend is located in northern Arizona near the town Page. As the name suggests, it’s an overlook of a horseshoe-shaped bend in the canyon where the Colorado River runs. It is part of the Glen Canyon National Park and there is a $10 entrance fee for each vehicle entering the park. If you want to actually have your wedding ceremony at Horseshoe Bend there is a special use permit you would need to buy, so keep that in mind and look into it in advance.
After using up all the golden light at Horseshoe Bend, we stopped at a McDonald’s on our way out of town. McDonald’s is a significant spot in Letty & Ty’s relationship, so I had to get a few photos of them getting down with burgers together. I always say “Make your photos, YOU”, so I love when couples incorporate things into their wedding day or sessions that make their photos even more special to them.
