A Colorado Flatirons engagement session is ALWAYS gonna be a favorite, and Sarah and Daniel made this evening in Boulder even more special. They were just so much fun to hang out with!! We were laughing and talking non-stop. They felt like old friends. Factor in the golden meadows and the overlook views… I mean… recipe for the perfect evening as a destination engagement photographer.
These two picked the best outfits to wear too. I love when my couples think about the landscape and how their clothing will work cohesively as a whole picture.

A Session That Felt Like an Adventure
The best engagement sessions never feel rushed, imo! They feel more like hanging out with friends, getting to enjoy this fun & brief season of life. Sarah and Daniel embraced every moment of our session, whether they were laughing in the tall grass, sharing a quiet embrace, or running through the open meadow as the evening light poured across the mountains.
The Flatirons created an UNREAL backdrop. The golden light this evening was so soft & hazy. It filtered through the hills, the wild grasses glowed, and every direction I looked offered another beautiful view. Take me back right now!!
The combination of open fields and dramatic peaks gave this engagement session at The Flatirons so much variety while still feeling cohesive from beginning to end.
Colorado Flatirons Engagement Session
As the evening continued, Sarah changed into a flowing rust-colored dress while Daniel paired a navy button-down with light khaki pants. The richer colors complemented the warm sunset perfectly. I loved all the texture and colors their outfits brought in.
We frolicked, laughed and played as the sun set. We climbed up a little higher onto some rocks, so we could get the sweeping background of mountains in golden hour.
Ending the Evening Above the Mountains
One of my favorite moments came as we climbed to a rocky overlook just before sunset. The layers of mountains stretched into the distance. Sarah and Daniel slowed down, popped some champagne, and simply enjoyed being together. Those quiet moments often become the most meaningful photographs because they reflect how being engaged really feels.
It’s a surreal, brief and beautiful time in life.
From playful piggyback rides to intimate portraits overlooking Colorado’s mountain landscape, every part of this evening celebrated who they are as a couple. Their joy was contagious, their connection was obvious, and the backdrop of the CO mountains was unbeatable.
