This full moon bridal session at Dead Horse Point in Moab is what I dream about as a destination wedding photographer. Dead Horse Point is always breathtaking, but Emilee and Sean’s session felt especially meaningful since we timed it perfectly with the lunar cycle.
Also, this was just a few days after their beautiful wedding at Solitude Resort. (That day was also perfection! You can see the full blog post here!)
They traveled to Moab to celebrate this new season together with portraits surrounded by the endless canyon views and goey golden hour lighting. It. was. a. dream.

We planned when we would meet up so that we could capture their newlywed glow in this magical place. And time it perfectly with the full moon so we could get those ethereal night time photograph.
We met up a little before sunset first thought, so we could get some portraits in the fading glowy light before our night time portraits.
So when these two started dreaming up this post-wedding portrait session, I immediately knew this was a location they would love!

Without the timeline of a wedding day, they could explore, embrace the incredible scenery, and create photographs that feel both adventurous and deeply personal.
I love when my couples plan a special time before or after their big day to focus solely on portraits. These are the images that will hang on your walls and make you feel all the love from this era. But this is also the time that you get to really breath & digest how big and incredible this season of life is. You’re in love and getting married!! You’ve found your person! You’re starting a new chapter!
On your wedding day, that feeling is big and immense. Sometimes overwhelming in a way. But when you pause and plan portraits outside of your big day, you really have time to absorb the shift in your life. Be present with your person.

This session was intentionally planned around the full moon, and it was absolutely worth the wait. Emilee shares my love of the moon, so we wanted to create something that felt a little different. As daylight faded and the sky deepened into blue, the mood completely shifted.
I’m obsessed with the way we got to play with the moon. The images we got of Emilee in her bridal era, basking in the glow of the moon. It was the perfect ending to an unforgettable evening and a reminder that sometimes the most magical photographs happen after sunset.
If you have been dreaming about a destination bridal experience filled with epic views, meaningful details, and a little bit of desert magic… take this as your cue to plan a unique session before or after your day where we can really play & create together.
