Taking engagement photos in Utah is a perfect way to celebrate your engagement! This state is full of bold landscapes for adventurous couples. Whether you want to take portraits on the glassy salt flats or in the mountains among the wildflowers, your photos will be unforgettable!
These are just fifteen of my favorite locations for engagement photos in Utah.
Big Cottonwood Canyon is located southeast of Salt Lake City. A scenic drive leads to sweeping mountain views with a rolling meadow. The wildflowers are beautiful, but the snow is just as amazing! You can access this location in the winter for cozy engagement photos in the snow.
The Salt Flats are some of the most unique features of Utah’s landscape. This area floods in the spring and winter but is well worth a day trip in the summer and fall. The water reflects the blue sky and makes it look like you’re walking on clouds at blue hour. Even the texture of the salt underfoot is enchanting.
Tibble Fork is another place for engagement photos in Utah that is accessible in winter. It is absolutely stunning with evergreens and snow-capped mountains. It does get busy, though, so keep that in mind when picking the time and day for your photos.
Zion National Park is iconic with its steep rocky mountain sides and painted canyons. It’s a great place to take epic engagement photos. There’s a breathtaking view around every turn. Golden hour is absolutely unreal, so get ready for some windswept romance in your images!
You don’t have to go far from Salt Lake City to get gorgeous engagement photos in Utah. The Foothills give a cool view of the city along with sunlit meadows of wildflowers. This location requires a bit of a hike, but for couples who don’t mind the hard climb, it’s well worth it.
Albion Basin is another great place to see unbelievable wildflowers. Purple, red, white, and yellow blooms make for colorful engagement photos. Typically, this popular location requires a permit. Make sure you plan ahead to avoid the intense crowds, and keep an eye out for moose!
Little Cottonwood Canyon is worth seeing, but I especially love taking engagement photos here in the winter when the snow weighs down the pine trees and brightens the landscape. Bundle up and have a snowball fight with your fiancê in the gold and pink light of sunset.
Dead Horse Point is a state park in the high desert. It’s undeniably one of the most popular locations where I take engagement and bridal photos in Utah. The vivid colors of the water against the striped rainbow canyons are bold and cinematic.
Tunnel Springs Park is great all year round for engagement photos. Situated in the North Salt Lake, Tunnel Springs’ golden meadows glow in the sun. The mountains and valley look dreamy in the distant background.
You don’t have to leave Salt Lake City to get stunning engagement photos! Check out the gorgeous architecture of Exchange Place. It’s the perfect combination of modern city and classically romantic vibes.
Mona Lavender Fields is truly dreamy. Photographing in this location requires a permit, which usually sells out by March. The lavender blooms over the first two weeks of July. Needless to say, you have to plan ahead to get these picturesque engagement photos.
The Sand Dunes are another iconic Utah location. The warm colors of the sand and sun create an ideal backdrop if you want your engagement photos to have a dramatic desert flair.
Provo Canyon has several amazing locations for engagement photos, from aspen groves to sweeping canyon views. In the summer, wildflowers fill the meadows. In the fall, the aspen trees show off their bright yellow colors and make it an autumn paradise.
The towering rock formations at Arches National Park are awe-inspiring.The red rock arches that give the park their name are fitting for adventurous couples who want something different out of their engagement photos.
If you’re in the area, check out Under Canvas Moab! They provide glamping experiences in a very photogenic location.
