When Rachel and Adam’s original 2020 Salt Lake City wedding plans were completely derailed by COVID, they decided to take a different approach. Instead of waiting for the wedding they had planned, they chose something that met the moment & still allowed them to express their personality. An intimate Rocky Mountain National Park Elopement surrounded by Colorado’s mountains.
They leaned on the gorgeous, sweeping views of the national park to bring the elevated & magical touch to their special day. When you can’t have the wedding you’ve been planning because of something completely out of your control… this is such an amazing pivot.

Her Leanne Marshall gown from Alta Moda Bridal had the perfect vintage-inspired feel, with textured fabric, long sleeves, and an elegant open back. Later, she added a deep burgundy velvet coat that completely transformed the look as well.
Her pearl necklaces, bold red lip, and statement bouquet from Tindall Skye Designs added even more personality. Meanwhile, Adam’s gray suit, crisp white shirt, and deep red tie complemented her look beautifully. Together, they were the perfect vision of bride and groom.

The day began before sunrise. Rachel and Adam met for their first look and vows high above the mountains at Independence Pass. We drove into the park while it was still dark. We hiked to their chosen spot right as the sun was appearing over the mountains.
The landscape was incredible. Golden grasses stretched toward layers of rugged peaks. The early morning light gave everything a soft, almost cinematic hue.
No packed ballroom or huge guest list. This wasn’t their plan, but that made it even more special. To see them show up to celebrate their love no matter what.

After our early morning, we all took a break to reset for the day! We decided to meet up again a little before golden hour, so we could keep taking photos in the setting sun.
By then, the mountains were glowing in warm golden light.
Rachel and Adam explored the landscape together, stopping for portraits, taking in the views, and simply enjoying the “we just got married” glow.
I loved their full day. It was more intimate and quiet than they planned, but nothing changed about the way they love each other. If anything, this day just magnified everything that was most important to them.
Rachel and Adam’s story is such a beautiful reminder that your wedding does not have to go according to plan to be incredible.
