For couples looking for a modern, minimalistic venue that still packs a statement punch- look no further than Salt Lake City’s Natural History Museum of Utah! Situated above the city on the east bench and with eye catching architecture featuring a sophisticated, clean vibe, this venue is a favorite of mine. Not only is the building itself stunning, but having the dinosaurs, butterflies, and other stunning exhibits provide the backdrop to photos is unparalleled. Museums such as this are often looked-over as wedding venues. This wedding is going to take you to the church that is unconventional wedding venue options!
Leslie + Kyle tied the knot (quite literally) on a stunning Utah June day. For this adventurous couple who share a love of pharmacy school (their OG meeting ground), the outdoors (click here to see their amazing engagement session at Canyonlands National Park!), and of course, dinosaurs, the Natural History of Museum was the obvious choice. They had a sophisticated and modern wedding day while still paying homage to their interests and hobbies as a couple. As a dinosaur-obsessed adult myself (my own wedding cake featured a bride and groom velociraptor toppers), getting to photograph a stunning couple amongst a bunch of dinosaur bones AND in a stunning venue ticked all my boxes.
From The Couple:
Nicole is perfect! I can’t say enough good things about Nicole. She makes pictures easy and comfortable and REAL. She is so fun to work with and really wants to be your friend. She is SO TALENTED. I have gotten so many compliments about who she is as a person and how amazing her pictures are.
This wedding was Published in the Autumn 2021 issue of Northern Utah Weddings Magazine!
Note Kyle’s amazing tie featuring dinosaurs, naturally
The glass wall of the Natural History Museum’s patio is jawdropping in all the right ways.
Didn’t I tell you they quite literally tied the knot? 😉 I loved how Leslie & Kyle incorporated one of their hobbies- rock climbing- into their ceremony.
Getting to take pictures amongst the dinosaurs of the museum is without a doubt one of the most epic perks of having your wedding here. This made all my child-Nicole dream’s come true and I will never recover.
This hallway. THIS HALLWAY!! Without a doubt my favorite spot in the museum.
I loved the unstructured, organic floral tablescapes. The neutral tones and twisted driftwood perfectly matched the tones of the museum, and the butterfly exhibit provided an incredible backdrop for Leslie and Kyle’s head table!
Leslie + Kyle’s custom cake toppers- featuring themselves and their two mini Australian Shepherds hiking- is a forever favorite of mine.
The sunset over the Salt Lake Valley from the patio of the museum is the perfect spot to watch the sun go down and get ready to transition into your party. Leslie + Kyle elected to have their toasts (one of my favorite parts of the day- give me all your tears and laughs!!) on the patio as the sky grew dark around us.
Neon signs at weddings are becoming *a thing* and I hope this is one trend that never goes away, because I’m obsessed. Plus, what a rad way to add some memorable and eye catching decor to your new home afterwards?!
Review from DJ Richie: Peer Vendor Review Here: Working with Nicole is awesome. She was very open and clear with what she needed so that ultimately we could provide what the bride and groom wanted. She is adventurous in the shots/vision/backdrops she creates and it proved to pay off. Plus. Super professional and a pleasure to be around. I would definitely hire Nicole for a wedding if I were you.
Pro tip: coordinate with your DJ and photographer to get a group photo of all your friends together on the dance floor!
