Can we just have a moment for this rainy autumnal intimate day? The weather can sometimes make your whole day that much more magical. That was certainly the case for Kate and Jordan’s intimate Pennsylvania wedding. They rented a log cabin tucked into the woods of the Endless Mountains, inviting just their closest family to celebrate their elopement. And while the entire week had been sunny, the rain decided to join us on their wedding day… and honestly, it couldn’t have been more perfect. It was a vibe.
Think cozy drizzle, the rich Fall color of the leaves, and warm candlelight. Talk about a romantic and moody vibe! With the cabin as their backdrop and the forest showing off in peak fall color, it felt like stepping straight into a storybook.
Kate and Jordan started off their day getting ready apart. Getting ready with their family and friends. Kate’s hair and makeup by Bri Majikes of BAM Studios – and she did such a great job of making sure the makeup didn’t budge in the rain (and happy tears!) I also loved that Kate had a little framed photo on her bouquet dedicated to a loved one that was no longer here. Weddings are all about including everyone that is important to us, even if they aren’t able to be there in person.
The bride and groom chose to do a “first touch” moment over the staircase in the cabin. It was a creative way to connect, before meeting for their ceremony to say I Do.
Their ceremony took place under the wooden beams of the cabin’s porch, surrounded by glowing candles and the sound of rain on the roof. Talk about MAGICAL. It was intimate, emotional, and so true to them. Afterward, we wandered through the forest and down by the river with umbrellas in hand. The rain made everything glisten, which added this dreamy texture to their portraits.
I loved the detail touches they chose too. A clear plastic umbrella. Cozy cardigan. Custom denim. It was a perfect way to personalize their elopement. As a destination wedding photographer, I live for those kinds of details!
The celebration wrapped up with a candlelit dinner on the porch, featuring flowers by Urban Chateau Floral, and a beautiful cake from House of Clarendon. They had a special cake cutting moment, and the rest of the evening was spent laughing & talking with friends.
Kate and Jordan’s day is the perfect reminder that the “perfect wedding day” doesn’t mean everything goes exactly as planned.
Whether you have a bright sunny wedding day, or a rainy vibe… your day is YOURS. And this cozy autumn cabin elopement was everything a Pennsylvania wedding should be: moody, joyful, and filled with authentic emotion.
Congratulations Kate & Jordan!
