I’ve been waiting to show you these maternity photos in Joshua Tree for so long! I literally can’t wait for you to see the magic we created! Madeline and Sean have been in front of my camera more than once, and I was so excited when they chose me to document this brand-new season in life as well.
We have photographed sessions together all over Utah, from Moab to the mountains. And when it came time to plan their maternity session, Joshua Tree National Park felt like an easy yes. It’s a place they already love. Finding ways to document the seasons of your life, in places you feel at home… that’s everything.

The desert showed off in the best way that evening. Think: warm sun and long shadows. Soft wind moving through the brush. Joshua trees as far as you could see. The environment perfectly captured that expansive but still intimate vibe. Perfect for a season that is both exciting and tender.
Madeline wore a deep rust dress that flowed beautifully with the desert tones. I love when my couples outfit plan around the backdrop. It makes a really cohesive gallery! Later, she changed into a black dress that like a dramatic anchor in the photos. She was embodying her new mama era, and she looked amazing.

Their session felt really calm and unhurried. Lots of walking and pausing and laughing. Moments you forget the camera is there for a second, and just… exist. These are the moments I always look for as a destination photographer. The in between pieces that feel real and lived in.
This location is one of my favorite places to photograph. The textures and the light composite into a really beautiful vibe. The way it feels both wild and peaceful at the same time. It gives space for you to just be. And I’m always so happy with the way that’s reflected in the final images.
Madeline and Sean leaned into that essence fully. They trusted the process. Trusted each other. (And that trust always shows in the final gallery). Their images feel honest and true to them.

This session was a reminder of why photographing maternity sessions in places that matter to my clients is so important. Location is not just about the view. It is about how it makes you feel. And I’ll stand ten toes down on that.
The desert has a way of telling beautiful stories. Maybe yours can be the next one in front of my camera.
