There’s nothing a Park City wedding, especially in late summer. The mountains, the wildflowers, the fresh air, and the feeling that you could wander into the trees at any moment… as a destination wedding photographer, I still love my local landscape of Utah with my entire heart.
Kellie and Alex’s wedding at Mid Mountain Lodge in Park City had ALL of that and more. It was relaxed! Colorful! And completely full of life.
Their day was an elegant mountain wedding and a good party with all their favorite people. I found myself reliving this day as I was preparing for this blog, and I just wish I could go back and do it all over again!! I loved being their photographer!
First of all, we have to talk about the COLOR at this wedding!
The natural setting at Mid Mountain Lodge was straight up incredible. Tall aspens and evergreens surround the property, with mountain views stretching in every single direction.
Add in the wildflower-inspired florals from Sweet Afton Floral and you just had this ethereal beauty all around you. It was like stepping into a book!
And the wedding party fits leaned into the mountain setting without feeling overly “rustic”. Kellie wore a beautiful lace gown with a dramatic train and delicate veil. Alex wore a classic navy tuxedo that looked right at home against the greenery. The bridesmaids wore soft blue dresses in different styles. Their colorful bouquets added pops of coral, orange, pink, and purple. The groomsmen were a solid visual anchor point in navy suits.
We started off their day with an emotional and happy first look in the trees, before pivoting into some pre-ceremony portraits on the slopes. The wedding party joined in the fun too!
After the portraits, it was time for their outdoor ceremony. Park City will forever be a backdrop I love for ceremonies!
Kellie walked down the aisle on the deck and there wasn’t a dry eye there. Alex prepared a speech that had everyone laughing. And these two finally, finally, became Mr. & Mrs. right there on that balcony overlooking the mountains. It was so full of joy. So full of LOVE. They truly embodied everything about the newlywed GLOW.
After the ceremony, we snuck away for some golden hour portraits in the field.
Kellie & Alex got a few minutes to themselves to bask in the just-got-married joy, and we got some true epic portraits as the sun was setting. But we didn’t want to spend TOO long, because they had a damn good reception planned!!
One of my favorite things about photographing weddings in the Park City area is how much variety you can get in one day.
You can have sweeping mountain portraits, a beautiful ceremony, and an energetic reception without ever losing that sense of place.
And wow was their reception a good one! We’re going to have to take am minute to talk about the dance floor. Because yes it was that good.
String lights covered the deck and created the most incredible backdrop as the sun went down. Guests crowded around Kellie and Alex as they danced. Then everyone joined in.
There were big dance moves, lots of laughing, and goofiness. Can we bring back goofiness to weddings!? Those are some of my favorite wedding photos from their day. Just the bride and groom having FUN with their friends.
If you are dreaming about a mountain wedding with absolutely incredible scenery, happy florals, and a party your guests will talk about for years: Park City deserves a spot on your list.
