There is something extra special about photographing couples in the Salt Lake City Foothills. As a destination wedding photographer, this location literally never gets old!
Sign me up any day. It creates a setting that feels both equally peaceful and full of energy at the same time. Natalie and Braeden’s engagement session was a perfect example of why this area is one of my favorites.

From the moment we arrived, it was relaxed and easy. The fields were filled with spring wildflowers and vibrant greens, with the Utah mountains stretching out behind us.
In reality, this location is a quiet, golden, and calm oasis. A place where you can slow down, and really take a moment to enjoy this era of being fiancés. It’s such a brief season of life. So getting to take time to revel in it, is really special.

Natalie started off our session with a bright red dress. The pop of color against the natural background worked so well in the golden hour lighting. Braeden wore a neutral Henley, the perfect compliment to her outfit.
I focus on natural posing in my sessions. This allows couples to move, laugh, and interact with each other instead of strangling to wrangle a pose that does not feel natural.
Natalie and Braeden were all in. Walking hand in hand through the wildflowers. Sitting close in the grass. Sharing inside jokes. Those in-between interactions are where the magic really happens!

Another thing about photographing sessions here, is that it offers so much variety in one location. Open hills. Mountain views. Wildflowers. And the most beautiful light as the sun dips low. I mean, golden hour here is unmatched. The setting sun just envelopes everything in these delicious warm tones and soft shadows. It creates images that reflect how romantic my couples feel, and that’s magical.
As the light shifted towards evening, these two changed looks. Natalie wore a simple black top paired with relaxed denim, while Braeden kept things classic with a crisp white button-down and neutral pants. I always recommend my couples bring a couple different outfit options, to add variety to their gallery. This gives you so many options when hanging these photos on your walls, choosing save the dates or updating your iPhone lock screen.

This session was a reminder of why I love wedding & couples photography so much. It is not about finding the perfect pose. It is about an emotional connection.
Golden light, open space, and room to just be yourselves. It does not get much better than that.
