If you have been wanting to get married at The Finger Lakes, look no further for some inspiration for your big day. Ali and Nick’s wedding in Canandaigua, New York, was the perfect blend of heartfelt, high-end, and down-to-earth joy.
This day was filled with thoughtful details these two lovingly planned. There were so many personal touches, and an energy that felt like pure celebration from start to finish. Truly, I think you can feel it in the photos!
Ali got ready at her childhood home, surrounded by her parents, sisters, aunts, and closest friends. There was such an easy warmth to the morning. The joy was palpable. Laughter spilling from room to room, makeup brushes scattered across the vanity, and that classic pre-wedding mix of nerves and excitement. I LOVE these moments! It’s a fun kind of jittery vibe. And everyone is just locked in for the bride and groom.
Ali met Nick outside for their first look. But not before she stopped for a quick “first look” with her bridesmaids at the bottom of the stairs. I will never get tired of these moments of pure girlhood!
Ali’s Wtoo by Watters gown was pure magic, and fit her like a glove. Think: layers of soft tulle embroidered with subtle floral detail that caught the light beautifully. She paired it with dainty gold jewelry and loose, effortless waves in her hair. Nick looked sharp in a navy suit. And together they shared their first look in the middle of a field, the perfect nod to Ali’s roots
These two got married with their closest people in attendance, not a dry eye as they said I Do! We sailed right into newlywed portraits in the GORGEOUS evening lighting outdoors, while the guests shared a cocktail hour. And the newlyweds even took their pups for a walk throug the field. When we get to infuse daily moments like that? *chefs kiss*
I wouldn’t be sharing this day completely without highlighting the insane florals by Flowerwell. They were an absolute dream too. A vibrant mix of rust, blush, and coral dahlias with eucalyptus and textural greenery. Yes please! Every bouquet and arrangement added a textured warmth to the day, creating this cozy-yet-luxurious autumn palette that complemented the rolling hills of The Finger Lakes perfectly.
The reception was full of good food, flowing conversation and easy-going vibes. And in true Ali fashion, when their bartender no-showed, she got behind the bar herself. Pouring drinks and laughing with her guests. Later in the evening, her family pulled off the most unforgettable surprise: an ABBA-themed karaoke and flash dance tribute that had everyone on their feet. Think metallic costumes, disco lights, and an entire room singing “Dancing Queen” at the top of their lungs.
This big day was one for the books. The perfect mix of laid-back charm and sophisticated style. All surrounded by some of the most scenic landscapes in upstate New York.
Between the vineyards, lakefront venues, and sweeping countryside views, it’s one of the most beautiful (and underrated) destinations for an unforgettable wedding weekend.
