Ahh, 90’s romcoms. Where would we be without them? They’ve stayed with us as we grew up, had real-life romcoms of our very own, and planned our own happily-ever-afters. Hopefully with a little more certainty and a few less trips down the aisle than our inspiration: Maggie Carpenter from the classic Runaway Bride.
This chameleon bride changes everything from her looks to her likes, her hobbies and her heart. For this Runaway Bride styled shoot, we reimagined Maggie and her many vibes, capturing the modern version of the bohemian hippie Maggie, the sweet and playful Maggie, and finally: the authentic Maggie, who does indeed get her very own horse to ride off into the sunset with (and a dinner of Eggs Benedict, of course).
I was given the opportunity to work with the most fantastic teams of vendors to create this Movie Makeover/Runaway Bride styled shoot for Utah Valley Bride‘s 2020 magazine. One of my images from this shoot ended up making the cover of the magazine that year, and I couldn’t be more honored!!
Maggie’s first wedding embodies the free-spirit hippie in us all. With a Harley Davidson motorcycle and a helmet full of flowers, our Maggie is the fiercest of fashionable style. This Rue de Seine gown from local boutique Alta Moda Bridal is an ultimate favorite of mine. I’ll never get over the fringe and lace details or the stunning fringe-covered back and bell sleeves.

“Where’s she going?”
“I don’t know, but she’ll be there by 10:30 a.m. tomorrow morning.”
Maggie may have ditched her date at the alter and made a quick getaway on a FedEx, but I can guarantee nobody is running from this colorful wedding inspiration. Maggie 2.0 is all bubblegum and balloons, and this team brought it to life in the most epic of ways! From a gown covered in pearls to upgrading our getaway truck to a Penguin Brother’s ice cream van, this sweet wedding can’t be beat!

At the end of the film Runaway Bride, Maggie is finally done running. It’s time to do her day her way, and the team for this editorial understood the assignment. Featuring a delicious Eggs Benedict tablescape to the stunning floral arbor- and her very own horse, of course. This wedding inspiration is elegant, romantic, and personal. This third reincarnation of the modern Maggie for this editorial made the cover of the UVB 2020 magazine.
